I earned my BFA from Colorado State University in 1981 and upon graduation moved to Seattle. In 1984 I became the assistant to artist Howard Kottler until his death in 1989.

In 1986, I was awarded a full scholarship Summer Residency at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan, Maine.
In 1989 I entered the University of Washington, where I earned my MFA in ceramics in 1991. I taught ceramics, painting and collage at Bellevue College from 1993-2000 and in 1999 transferred to Edmonds Community College teaching ceramics, painting and drawing for over 20 years.

I serve as the studio assistant to artist Patti Warashina. Patti and I have worked together for over 25 years.
